Abstract: | This paper examines the growing divergences in the regulatory regimes governing e-commerce and electronic privacy in the major commercial markets - the United States, the European Union, and Japan - and suggests that the existing regulatory frameworks are not sustainable as a long-term international regime. The paper then suggests a new approach to governing international e-commerce and Internet privacy, known as "customizable privacy." |
