Erratum: Optimal packings of superballs [Phys. Rev. E 79 , 041309 (2009)]

Abstract

Equation (16) contains typographical errors (introduced when we typeset the manuscript), which led to incorrect values of the lattice vectors. The correct set of relations corresponding to Eq. (16) is given as follows: l = 3−1/2p, 2q2p + s2p − 1 = 0, l2p + (s − q − l) 2p + (s + q − l) 2p − 1 = 0. We note that the results reported in the paper were computed using this correct set of equations. Therefore, none of the reported results nor the conclusions are affected in any way. We are grateful to Ran Ni and Marjolein Dijkstra for bringing to our attention the fact that Eq. (16) given in the paper produced packings with slight interparticle overlaps, which enabled us to discover the typographical errors.
